Not a lever, but at least has a wood stock

82 or 83 (182 series ) Mini 14 GB -- originally only LEO or govt /foreign military contract --- but they trickled out into the civilian world ------ now Ruger is making a modern repro

The fact that there is a modern repro is what put this previously unfired outside of the factory (chamber condition supports this claim ) example within my financial grasp -- kinda' what happened to Pythons when they came out with the CNC version 4 or 5 years back -- ow its not hard to get an original for 1500 bucks or so

Im an 80's kid, but the A-Team wasnt my bag --- but maybe i need to think about a custom van to go along with this rascal ---- and rest assured, i have put a magazine through it to rectify the "previously unfired" situation since i got it on Saturday

---- I've got a closet full of AR variants that will outperform this old thing in all the ways that count to some folks --- but shooting this actually gets me excited to hit the range anyway

Nice! I had a solid stock stainless GB for many years. I sold it during the panic buy after 9/11 for a wild profit. I bought an early production M1A Scout for a couple hundred dollar investment.
Enjoy your new acquisition sir!
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

I have always liked that model.
A Mini-14 was one of the first rifles I bought when I was a teenager. I still have it. It's the blue model with the wood on top of the barrel.

Now that i've put a few more rounds through this gun , i am seeing the metal folding sock as more of a liability than an asset if i actually had to use it in anger

I would dare say if Iran decided to invade Norman OKlahoma, i would feel more comfortable with my Winchester (94, 30-30 ) -- zero drop and small sight aperture means finding your target is not a natural act

Since this was purchased with full intent on being a collectible and not a regular shooter, i think my curiosities about these have been satisfied --- but would like to try one of the fixed stock models

But the rifle is exactly what it is supposed to be -- a downsized replica of a WW2 era firearm with a primitive para style stock made for portability rather than shootability .

We had a thread about AR's and similar rifles not too long ago and i know the board's opinion on these is mixed, -- but its amazing how much further evolved they are than the Mini -- which for all practical purposes does the exact same thing.
