Some interesting times, apparently "Doug" cant even use his last name due to legal reasons. This new low temperature color case finish specializing in modern heat treated alloy steels . That have long gave troubles with traditional bone charcoal color case.
Not sure if this is potassium cyanide or sodium cyanide but appears to have colors salt bath color case produce.

Those look good. Says in there that there is no change to the molecular hardness, so cyanide is either not used, or it is at a low enough temperature as to not heat the steel over 400 degrees F. Bone charcoal cyanide finish heats the older 1055 steel to lose its hardness from the quench and allows the cyanide to bond with the outer layer of steel around 1300°F. FeCn is hard enough that it is almost as hard as tungsten carbide. It is only a few molecules thick, and can wear over time or from use.
This new finish is just a colorization process if it has no change to the steel's hardness.

Potassium cyanide melts at 1174 F neither Doug or Bobby reviel actually bath used. I seen Bobby checking hardness of a finished frame on an interview. So heat is involved just not typical heat.
