Anyone here have both of these done? and results?
It was time for my annual checkup and...
My dominant eyes is just a mess.

Re: cataract / astigmatism surgery
I had cataract surgery in both eyes done thirty years ago. My wife had both done last year. No problems for us. Find a reputable, experienced surgeon. My surgeon had retired, so we had to shop around for my wife. Fortunately we found an excellent surgeon and facility. There surely is one in your area.

I could get by with readers but, I wear no-line trifocals all the time. Simply because i want to see everything I want to see without searching for for glasses. Also to protect my eyes. I never forget my safety glasses at the range.

Re: cataract / astigmatism surgery
I had both done. Medicare paid for the basic level “lenses” and it was explained that I would need glasses for reading. I paid around $2500 for the enhanced lenses and don’t regret the extra expense.
The procedure removed the astigmatism and occasionally I use some 1.5 readers for smaller print.

Re: cataract / astigmatism surgery
I've had cataract surgery done in both eyes, the first about 8-9 years ago and the other 3 years ago. I now have 20/20 or better vision in both eyes but do have to wear readers, which to be honest I had to wear prior to the surgery. I've had no issues and am glad I had it done.
Re: cataract / astigmatism surgery
Both mine were done ~2 years ago -- I did slip from 20/15 in one eye to 20/25 after a detached retina (due to a 10-year prior tear in the retina which weakened it) -- but I am SO GLAD not to have to wear glasses anymore! The other eye is 20/15, so overall, I'm about 20/20. At 63, I went REAL sunglasses (in lieu of clip-ons) shopping for the first time, and it was great!Mark in MO wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 1:23 pm I've had cataract surgery done in both eyes, the first about 8-9 years ago and the other 3 years ago. I should have done this 20 years ago, but insurance wouldn't have paid for it then.
Just be sure to 100% follow the eye drops and eye care protocol following the procedure. And good luck!
