Ruger M77 Mark II BOLT GUNS

Post by 348win »

Anybody own a book on Ruger production history through the approx 1990's.

I'm wondering what was available for STAINLESS ALL WEATHER rifles in the MKII guns.

*NOT the Hawkeye*

Idk if there was:

1.) "All Weather" model in 22" w SS and Black Plastic Synthetic Stock
2.) another same bbl length but Laminate stock

3.) ? UL UltraLight SS models ??? 20" Pencil bbl

I'm looking at 308 chambered rifles only, and no youth models, or frontier models.

Not sure if they came w sights optional either.
I know the boat paddle guns came in 308, but I'm not so sure I want a boat paddle or traditional shaped stocked. I haven't held a Zytel Paddle stocked gun, so that a big deal breaker right now.....

Can't help ya, I have a Hawkeye in 338 Federal that I bought in 07. Sighted it in, drove to CO and shot a big cow elk the first morning of the season. I haven't shot it since...

Is yours SS

if so Did you expose it to bad weather

I see quite a few Hawkeyes w the matte or bead blast stainless, FS, showing signs of rust issues. Looks like the grade of SS and or the textured finish is a recipe for rust.

My observations.

.
Seems like some matte stainless is very rust prone (not just Rugers).

I bought my stainless Hawkeye 338 RCM used and had to clean some surface rust off which wasn’t difficult at all. The owner hunted with it and I suspect he put it in the safe without a wipe down. The MKII stainless rifles I have seen have been either bright polished stainless or a darker finish called Target Gray.
