Ooohhhh, this would have made her mad!!

Post by 2ndovc »

Paraphrasing an old joke. "I got a boat for my wife. Best trade I've ever made:" :D

I bought this today. It's a C&C SR 21. I had one many years ago and have regretted selling it ever since.
It is the fastest sailboat I've ever owned. Not long after I'd sold the boat, the factory closed and surviving
one-design racers were scattered all over the Northern Hemisphere. I've found them for sale as far as the west coast and
into Canada and at or near what I'd paid for mine new! This one just happened to pop up for sale in SE Ohio and went to look this afternoon.
It comes with a near new 4hp Yamaha, a new and almost new sets of sails, electronics and bunch of other goodies.
Saying I'm excited would be putting it mildly! :D :D
Best part was I didn't have to ask the committee for permission or negotiate something with the Bimbo.

You know it!
Sandusky Bay is going to get lit up next summer!

Needs a new name though. not wild about Wind Witch.
My first one had a blood red hull and named it Shark Bite.

Beautiful sailboat, Jason. I recall seeing photos of you and your father sailing. 8)

Years ago while in Juneau visiting my sister and her family, we went out fishing and passed a boat with the name, "Spendy Hummer".
My son keeps a boat in Kewaunee, WI for salmon fishing on Lake Michigan.
Best wishes to you with your new gem, I'll bet she cuts the water beautifully.

Great!

That boat just might avoid the "BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand" syndrome that power boaters know so well...

And you gotta keep the shark's mouth on her!

that's fabulous. does it require trapeze gymnastics? is it possible to tent if for some camping trips? is there room for a fish grill?

it's beautiful and i can imagine it handily passing every boat i've ever sailed. Way to Go :)

The shark face will stay for sure. Just needs a better name. There's nothing cheap about sailing either. The old phrase around here is if you think you would like to learn how to sail, first stand in a cold shower with all your clothes on and tear up $100 bills. If you want to get into racing tear up $200 at a time. :D

Grizz,
I was hoping you would see this. These little buggers are like lightning. I used to pick out another stick on the horizon when I would leave the harbor on the first one and wouldn't turn back until I caught it.
The Trapeze gear isn't necessary for this boat, plus I'm too beat up for that stuff anyway. The guy I bought it from is around my age and he did race it on a small lake, he would mostly just solo day sail. Probably what I'll do as well, unless I can find someone to crew for me and do a little racing.
Bill,
You are correct. I've been sailing since before I would walk as they say.

Of course, we all understand that two boats going in the same direction is the very definition of "a race!"

I'm keeping my eyes open. I could enjoy that ride. I sailed in the San Francisco Bay afternoon hurricane several times in a Rhodes 19. It was a kick when the westerly kicked into overdrive. Your new boat would sail full circles around the Rhodes, in any weather. :D
