Well-meaning, intelligent, but . . . Democrat . . .

#1 Post by AJMD429 » Sat Jul 06, 2019 10:30 pm

How on Earth does this happen....???

I talked to a woman in her 40's the other day, and she was saying how 'divisive' Trump was, and I asked her to explain. She really had nothing specific to say other than "He's just so hateful to everyone - women, minorities, immigrants, and so on..." When pressed for examples, she gave the usual CNN-manufactured things that conflate illegal-aliens with Mexicans, anti-monument-destroyers with NAZIs, and so on.

I remarked that she was saying things that were really just distorted things from the 'news' media, but she said "No, this isn't some garbage fake-news from Fox or Breitbart - I pretty much watch CNN and NBC..."

I asked her if she thought those sources were truthful, and she said "Yes, and their anchors and reporters seem to be so much more respectful and intelligent and honest than the pompous idiots on Fox; I don't believe a thing those morons say..."

The problem, aside from the fact that this person votes, and her vote likely just cancels mine, is that she actually believes what she's saying, and she's sincere about it...! She is an intelligent, educated, professional, and a very honest and kind person in her personal life.

How do people get like that...?

I am assuming that although she cares about current events, and the future of the nation, she doesn't take (or perhaps have) the time to delve deeply enough into any topic (like gun control, the economy, immigration, or the government's role in education or health care or housing) to get to the point where she realizes how AWFUL the Dumbascrap positions are. Certainly at the superficial, sound-byte, level, the left wing or 'progressive' stuff always sounds wonderful.....free stuff for everyone, a pristine environment, and inclusive tolerance for all.....well, except no tolerance for anyone who disagrees with them, and nobody to pay for the free stuff, so when the economy fails and we become another Venezuela, all those "wonderful environmental regulations" become naught, and all the noble stuff the Dumbascraps promised to bring about fail. Every time throughout history, and every place it has been tried.

But SO MANY people are just clueless to all that.

I suppose much of it is our educational system - for three generations instead of telling youngsters how the free market works, and why it lifts everyone out of poverty, and is the ONLY fundamentally 'fair' system out there, the teachers have been telling our children that socialism is the only way things will get better.

So sad..........

A while back an acquaintance asked me," What have the Republicans done for you lately?"
I told him I vote for a man because of what he can do for the country, not for me personally. He appeared dumbstruck for a minute. He is a very bright guy who has been, I believe, brainwashed by his wife/ teacher, who is very bright. The pair of them appear to have gotten a hold of some bad feed, rendering themselves ignorant concerning politics 8)

Don`t get me started. How can any semi intelligent person stay a democrat when they see the likes of AOC spout her insane nonsense. See how hillary skated on classified E-mails, how bill skated on his affairs. When they hear the unworkable nonsense of free college, wipe out student loans that everyone else had to pay, give every person in the country $1,000 a month, legalize drugs, see the entire party turn socialist and commie. A half way moral person that calls themselves a christian could not stay a demonrat unless they never watch any news.
