So.....the Founding Fathers are gathered to debate the Bill of Rights....

They are discussing the timeless balance of power between citizen and government, concepts like habeas corpus, property rights, freedom of speech, trial by jury, states' rights......

............and THEN..........

.......Bubba, sitting in the back row, chimes in: "...Hey, how 'bout we put one of them 'mendment thingies in there what sez me 'n Jimbo gets to hunt deers 'n such, so long as we stick with a 'sporting' rifle, and make sure it is a bunch less potent than the guns the Torries, or their new heirs the U.S.Guvmint, has....?"

Anyone who imagines THAT scenario needs to go back to grade school and take a really basic U.S. History class....

Also don’t need high power sports cars, titanium golf clubs, big fancy houses. I could go on forever about needs vs desires.

Actually, they didn't put the amendment in there because they were worried about another country invading. They put it in there so the citizens could protect themselves from their own government. Sort of like they did during the recent war for independence. Of course these days our own government is trying to remove the rights that would protect us from them. Hmm, everything old is new again. The problem is people forget.

And therein lies the history lesson that virtually NO school teaches.

To my mind, the most important lesson that should be taught about the American War for Independence is that "The British" were NOT some occupying foreign power. The British government was the LEGAL governing authority in the 13 colonies. Our Founding Fathers fought and died to overthrow the LEGAL government...NOT to expel a foreign invader.
This should be the FIRST document studied in detail by every child in our public school system:

No, you may not need 30 rounds while you're hunting him, but you very well may once you find the rag bastid...

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

Grizz, did you notice that in the fine print of all those new concealed carry rules the bastages passed there is a bit that refers to "anything that can be used as a weapon"?
These days I keep flashing back to Beria who said "show me the man and I'll find the crime". We are in the process of a grand screwing just so Gov. Jay "commie' Inslee has his socialist creds in order for his run in 2020.
