State Washington Sues Motel Six Giving Guest Lists To ICE

#1 Post by BlaineG » Wed Jan 03, 2018 2:38 pm

Washington is a sanctuary state, for all practical purposes. They have no interest in detaining illegals. With that in mind, I'm not sure how I stand on this issue.
This is a lengthy interview, but it applies to practices Motel 6 has/had in place nationwide.
Personally? I can't think of a valid reason why I should be upset about this.
I think this is just another attempt by a socialist state to throw a wrench into Trump's agenda to oust illegals.
It's astounding how many crimes are committed by illegals in this state.

Personally, I find the idea of a business running to tell Big Brother that I stayed there unsettling

Hardly, I just value my privacy and am a bit less trusting of government than you apparently.

it is a surprise to many that the quiet-non offensive-hard working-"honest"-family oriented undocumented trespasser can be actually "criminal"….

but then most folks don't know that they tend to get a pass, sometimes not even a night in jail for most non violent crimes….

most small town/city and gulags and even county jails do not comply with federal requirements for the housing of illegals….our county jail was forced to spend 11 million $ by uncle remus' administration to be able to hold undocumented suspects for more than 24 hours…..
Fighting the rampant and virulent social aberration of tactitardism - one (and sometimes two) patched round ball(s) at a time....

I'm with 44shooter on this one -- Motel 6 had no business turning their customer info over without a warrant. That said, the grandstanding Washington AG has gotta' be an embarrassment to most of our Washingtonians. Us rednecks do suffer a lotta' fools out here on the left coast.

I guess if AG Ferguson (aka liberal Alpha Hotel) and Gov. Jay Inslee also an Alpha Hotel, thinks it a good idea, I'm against it. For the last year, they have been a key part of the Deep State Resistance against Trump.
Also, I'm not all that sure about being illegal. Were SS# passed along? AFAIK, passing along customer lists happens all the time. I personally believe that Washington does not give a big hairy pelosi about customers, but rather blocking ICE and Trump.

I'm torn on this one as well. Normally I would not patronize any business that does not value my privacy. I don't like anyone informing Big Brother what I'm doing - and no, I'm not an illegal, a criminal, or up to no good. It is simply none of the government's business, and as we saw under President (thing) BHO, unelected bureaucrats are TOO partisan and have TOO much power.

That said, being a "we are a nation of laws/law & order" guy, illegals are... illegal. Their first criminal act was to enter the country illegally. Yes, many if not most are hard-working and simply want a better life for themselves and their families. I understand and would probably do the same. However, if we don't enforce the law, we encourage lawlessness. Lawlessness typically starts in small things, and escalates unchecked (i.e. - the "broken windows" scenario). So, if we enforce the laws vigorously - uniformly - and fairly, and you cut the magnet drawing illegals (jobs, lack of enforcement, government benefits, etc.), illegal immigration WILL go down. This includes killing 'sanctuary anythings" (cities, states, businesses, hotels... even churches). The risk/reward ratio is changed.

I'm all for very expansive legal immigration. The key word is "legal". We, as a country, have the right to control our borders, and decide who has EARNED the right to live here, and become fellow citizens. Get in line like everyone else, and while in line, learn the things needed to succeed (like fluent English, for one)...
