SOLD: Winchester Model 94 in .35-30

#1 Post by Bill in Oregon » Mon Dec 03, 2018 6:24 pm

This is a nice old Winchester Model 94 manufactured in 1952 in .32 W.S. and rebored to .35-30, "our oldest wildcat." I'm told the work was done by Parker Ackley himself, but cannot verify. It's in nice shape overall, very fine bore, left receiver flat drilled and tapped for a scope mount at some point. I have shot this rifle at 50 yards with both jacketed and cast handloads and it grouped under two inches with open sights. I since had a gunsmith friend mount a nice old steel receiver sight, but have not done more range work. Comes with a partial die set and a .35 Remington die set, miscellaneous brass and a batch of 200-grain Remington Corelokts and some cast bullets. I am asking $600 shipped and not looking for trades. This can go to a C&R license if you have one.
If you Google .35-30 you'll find it to be an interesting and capable wildcat, with almost the case capacity of the .35 Remington but a long case neck making it superior for cast bullet work.

This is a cool cartridge, surprised nobody has moved on this neat combo. Here is an article by Ed Harris on it for some inspiration to someone.

I have one on a Marlin 336 action and it is a very cool cartridge.
