Has any one ever heard of a 33-33?? I have a friend who swears his grandfather left him a lever action 33-33?? This guy is a fine mechanic who pay's attention to detail. He changed my oil yesterday, and said he was going to bring the rifle into the shop. He did not say what brand it was, only that it was a lever, and that it was old. Tom.
I remember the .333 OKH, based on the .30-06 case, & the .30-338, based on the .338WM case, & the .33 &.35 Winchester in M1886 & M1895 leverguns. Then too, there's always the .30-40.
As somebody who has had people bring in Pakistan wall hanger swords they swear their 5XGreat-grandfather carried in the Revolution, nothing anyone says surprises me. No matter how far removed from reality, if they can dream it, they will say it. Amazing.
I'm not guessing, I'm just going to wait and see.
Sincerely,
Hobie

I'll bet Hobie's bank account that the gun in question is an 1886 in .33 WCF.
