Calling in.

Post by Nath »

Yo, checking to see what is happening.
It has been a while I know and see some have gone but not forgotten.

Still popping the varmints off alas no leverguns currently 😪. I keep checking the ads here in the UK though.
Hope y'all OK 👍

Ive acquired 7 blackpowder guns. Tho I sold 2 of them. None were flintlicks. Havent shot any of them yet!
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Thank you everyone.
I thought I posted a reply earlier.
Must of messed up.

Jess is doing fine, just a little less keen to climb a tree for a squirrel these days.
She did hold a fatally wounded fox for me two weekends back. I shot it at near 50yards with my Pedersoli 10g and a load of #4 buck. 40 count on 90gns of black. The fox made 200yards when Jess caught up with it. She held it until I could get.

Last weekend we found a fox hanging up wind from some new lambs. The fox was obviously frustrated. Pacing around on a hill side itching to brake cover to make a snatch.
We moved in below its elevation. Made a noise, it stopped and I made an ideal 80yard offhand shot across the ribs.

The round was a cci 20gn fmj hmr.

If you want to see some more pictures just let me know.

I've been doing plenty muzzleloading hunting.
Wing shooting, rabbit hunting etc.
Shot hundreds of crows last fall.
20211125_113230.jpg
It was frantic loading so I took a breech loader to.
20211125_113311.jpg
That was with a 12g Pedersoli from the late 70's and a Russian Tula Toz66.
Our laws prevent me from using a single ball from my smoothbored muzzleloaders but is dumb enough to allow me to load no less than five .36" balls! Yep I know, don't ask, I don't understand it too.
Anyway, turns out my .45 kentucky style smoothbore loves five .36 balls all at once! Throws a real tight pattern. Every cloud has a silver lining so they say....

It's good to "see" you, Nath. Yep, laws may confound reason - because they tend to be written by folks with no knowledge of the subject. It probably wouldn't be too hard to get a law passed against the chemical combination of dihydrogen monoxide, it causes billions of pounds in property damage around the world each year and is consumed by the vast majority of people involved in traffic accidents.
