I haven't seen "The Cross of Iron" in years. I'd add "Dunkirk" and "Darkest Hour" to that list. Also "Enemy at the Gates" is a good one, and if you like obscure foreign films track down "Dersu Uzala". It's not really a war movie but it takes place before the Russian Revolution. it's about a survey mission into Siberia and the C.O. is sporting a Winchester 1895. :D

We're finally having a nice day here, 66 and sunny. I'm going back outside. :D

I still like The Sands of Iwo Jima.

Though he survived WWII, one man who made more trips to land troops at Omaha beach on D-Day than anyone else was Eddie Albert. Yes, the same actor who played in Green Acres. He could have gone back aboard his ship after the required number of trips, but he chose to continue facing the enemy fire and landing troops. Lots of men did their duty on that day.

I think Taking Chance is a movie everyone should watch. If you aren't familiar, Chance is a KIA , its the story of his return to his home town. Its a tear jerker!

Yes, far from being an action movie, it IS one to watch for sure. It was well done and powerful.

.

I’ll second ‘Enemy at the Gates’.

Thanks for the other suggestions.

We don’t watch movies much but I’d like to see some of these I’ve not seen (‘Patton’) snd re-see some I have.

My wife and I watched it tonight. It was very moving. There must have been a lot of dust in our room. Eyes got wet several times.

I've always enjoyed watching Midway. It's been about five years or so since I've seen it.
