Thoughts ... you scored! Great.
Advice ... none

I have .22 magnum cases prepared and bullets cast but I have not mixed up the priming compound. I am not sure how much compound is made with the measures provided and am waiting until I can re-prime some primers also. The compound is extremely explosive and I don't want to have to do it too often.

Probably it will be a little later in the summer when I do it.

I keep looking at those, thinking about what it'd take to use them down here. With the current unrest I dare not attempt to purchase even powder right now, but have thought of using their regular percussion caps (a weird, non-standard size) as a source of primer powder. Haven't made up my mind yet.

What we did when I was a kid reloading 22 LR shells was that we used CBC (now Magtech) berdan shotgun primers as a source of primer powder for reloading 22 LR. Two primers per 22 shell, crimp them slightly sideways, then rotate 90* and do it again. That loosened the powder and allowed it to be dumped into the shell. Fill up with FFFg and place a .24 caliber round ball on top, use slip joint pliers to seat it on top of the powder, shaving off a bit of lead in the process. Load in the chamber with the firing pin mark at 180* from the firing pin, close the action, shoot. DON"T forget to clean well afterwards as those were corrosive primers which are a bad thing and when combined with black powder would rust the gun quickly. We'd get three reloads from an empty that way. Trying for more lead to duds as the rims wouldn't be open enough to allow enough priming compound to enter the gap.

And we worry about how good we have it.

I'm amazed at what can be obtained up north via the 'net, a credit card and one of the parcel services. I'm intrigued by the priming compound, for example. Shipped in individual components in baggies - no HazMat. Mix 'em up and it goes BANG on impact. Need to find me a chemist who could analyze that stuff and tell me what would be needed to replicate it down here. Somehow I doubt it'd make it through the TSA screening of checked luggage.

You really have to work hard to shoot in some parts of the world. We aren't there yet and in some ways, it looks like we are gaining ground rather than losing.

The Japanese Olympic Team has to practice with Airsoft due to restrictions, or so I read a few years back.
