Sounds like a 264 Winchester Magnum from back in the day.

But does it make you a better hunter?

Re: Move over 6.5..............
One thing will never change. The constant attempts by gun makers, and ammo makers to sell yet another gun and cartridge that's the new whiz bang do it better thing. I'll still never own any of the latest wonder cartridge rifles, just because there are dozens of older cartridges that do the same thing just fine.

Re: Move over 6.5..............
If I could shoot the difference I’d care, but since I can’t shoot the difference between a 243 Win and a 6mm Rem, or a 30-30 and 35 Rem, or a 444 Marlin and a 45-70, or even a 280 Rem and a 7 mm Rem Mag, I just shrug it all off as silliness...
Buy whatever suits your fancy and shoot stuff with it; if you do it a lot you’ll be better with your whatever-chambered gun than I am with my better-in-theory gun. And I won’t care much cuz it isn’t a contest; I’ll be too busy shooting stuff and spending bunches of money on MY gun.
....enjoy...!!!!

Re: Move over 6.5..............
To be fair the cartridge is exploring new territory in the .277 bore size. No other 270 has been designed or is optimal to launch streamlined bullets weighing up to 175 grains. It is basically a Creedmore approach done to the 270 WSM. It probably is in the same niche as the 7mm magnums and possibly the longer 7mm standards like 280 Ackley. I'm not going to pretend anyone needs it. A 270 win set up with a fast twist barrel could probably do very well with the new heavy bullets. but if one wanted a short action rifle that was versatile, moderate in recoil, and could deliver the mail long distance it's a worthy contender. I like short actions a lot though. Honestly a 308 can do about all I'm likely to do. I think the 6.5 Creedmore is well designed but offers nothing really new. This is a bit different. I doubt it will be popular though too many people will say, "It can't outperform my Sebumag!" Not realizing that it isn't the point.
Re: Move over 6.5..............
I have not hunted anything that a .30-06 could not take. I know that there are some differences in the .308 and .30-06 when you go to the extremes of bullet weight and powder charge. I have never even seen a 200 grain or heavier bullet for the .30-06.
I can see a point in something a little faster than the 300 Blackout. The very popular Ameriica's Rifles in 6.8 SPC are capable of taking deer at reasonable ranges in the woods or brush.
So many new calibers seem to me to be just an answer in search of a problem.
