Who to work on a '73

Post by Rockrat »

Have one of the new Miroku Winchester '73's and I really hate the trigger flopping around when the gun is cocked. Can it be changed to make it more like the origional '73's?
Thanks

Where are you? There is Cody Cowboy Shop in West Virginia, Cowboy & Indian's store in CA & The Smith Shop in RI. The last two I'm not sure they have gunsmith's on site, but... they probably know someone near you.

If you can't find someone to do the work, go to Trinidad State Junior College ,gunsmith program will most likely have a student there in need of a project. When I was there people were always bringing guns in that needed work or wanted customization. Best part is no labor .

Wow Rockratl, I have 2 Winchester 73 SRCs in 44-40. One was made in 1885 and the other is about 3 years old and of course Miroku. I can't tell much difference in them. I even traded the links out in them just to see if it would work and it did. Of course the old one is worn 'till it's sloppy loose so I put a set of Lee Shaver links it which didn't help it shoot any tighter groups because the bore slugs .431.
Give Steve Young a call about yours. I'll bet he can help you out.
