Paco's Daughter Was Seriously Injured Last Week

Post by JimT »

Paco's oldest daughter, Jennifer Kelly, had a serious horse riding accident last Sunday morning. Jen was riding with her trainer on one of his horses Sunday morning in preparation for a camping trip. On the trail, they came to a hill, the horse started to gallop, lurched and bucked her off. We believe Jen landed face first. The force of the landing pushed her neck backwards and caused an injury to her spinal cord. Initially, she could not move her extremities.

Jen was airlifted to North Memorial in Robbinsdale from Sand Dunes State Park, in Big Lake, MN. After a CT scan and an MRI, it was determined that she had pressure on her spinal cord but did not have any fractures. A surgical procedure was done on Sunday evening to reduce the pressure on her spinal cord. Post-surgery, she has since been recovering in the ICU and has stabilized. She is now out of ICU and in a room. She has gained very limited movement to her arms and less to her legs. She will be at North for a few more weeks. Next steps will involve care in an intensive rehab facility followed by long-term care. It is currently unknown the length of time she will need extensive care.

We also discovered that Jen's medical insurance coverage has lapsed, and she is currently uninsured. North Memorial Hospital has treated her to the best of their ability and continue to do so, They have shown her much grace providing for her care.

There is hope and she is a strong person and will work hard to improve as much as she can. A friend has setup a GoFundMe page. Please keep her in your prayers as she moves forward.

Prayers up. Since there ws no break, and it doesn't sound as if the spinal cord was cut, her chances sound good. May GOD provide.

Prayers for Jennifer and her successful recovery. Good to hear she is tough, this type of injury can take awhile to overcome. An old friend of mine recovered from such an injury, and started doing triathelons after, a miracle.

Very sorry to hear this but thankful there was no break.

About 15 years ago a neighbor suffered a very similar injury when she bent over to grab something and a pony or donkey (can't recall which anymore) tried to mount her driving her into the ground. It took her years of intense therapy and hard work to make a substantial recovery.

Prayers for a successful recovery.

Please keep us informed. She may not know most of us on here, but we are supporting her as best we can. Her Dad is important to us, and that carries over to her.
