Re: With All The Free Time We Have, Shooting Bench Anyone?
Steve, great topic and great photos. Those legs would be trivial to build for anyone who works metal.
May I see a picture of the wood furniture on the AR?
I'm thinking about wood on the AR pistols

I made two benches in recent weeks but not quite as nice as yours. Mine are from scrap wood. Double 3/4" PW tops on 4x4 legs, 2x4 frames. Solid enough but not near as portable.

I used to use a Black & Decker Work Mate, 5 gallon bucket to sit on. Sure it was portable but not like yours! Nice bench!!

Steve, very fine bench design. I like the Rigged Buddy legs in particular. Years ago I made a similar, heavier table with fold-up banquet table legs and a one-inch plywood top, but it was a boulder to lug around. .

You're clearly a craftsman on several levels.
I've accomplished building sturdy over the years but building pretty still eludes me. I do most of my shooting at my rifle club where concrete is the material of choice on our benches so not much room for me to innovate. Besides, these days I shoot offhand most of the time in an effort to improve my levergun silhouette scores.

There are folding leg devices used to prevent sliding glass doors from being opened. They are typically light, but not very sturdy. Something like that with a support might work if nothing else is available to make the legs. A slide from an old childrens outdoor playset could be used as the tabletop. Probably could get one or two for free. Cut them to desired size, screw them to some wood scraps to hold them in place. Cover with whatever you have or want. Solid, cheap, and reliable.
I don't have anyplace like that near me to shoot long range.

Nice looking bench. I made one similar with the same folding legs. But For some reasonI though a heavy top would be better so I glued 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood and cut out the top. Now this old guy doesn't like luffing that #*!% heavy thing around...
