Basic Gun Handling - more complex than I thought...

Post by AJMD429 »

When you 'grow up with guns' like many of us have, you get so used to the mechanics and basics that it becomes second nature, like tying your shoes, but after watching this basic 'gun handling' video - https://youtu.be/5CjRJbsTzcY - I realized that to a never-held-a-gun-before person, it really does seem COMPLEX.

I think Lena Miculek does a GREAT job of explaining such stuff in a 'non-threatening' way that can appeal to the first-time gun owner, particularly females.

I've shared the video link to many new female shooters already.

She could teach almost anyone about gun handling. That lady can shoot. Of course, she has one of the best teaching her.

It is hard to beat a 357 Magnum levergun with 38 Special loads for a first-centerfire-rifle to fire, especially one of the little 16" ones....!

Until I went into the service I had no "formal" firearms training. My dad and uncle were much sterner task masters than any military firearms instructor I ever met. The rules were explained and behavior monitored and correct until you got it right every time.

These lessons paid dividends every time I pick up a firearm.

Thanks for that link -- sending it to the daughter who lives in zombieland. And I'm watching it again, too!
