Anyone else had trouble with Epson EcoTank printer?

Post by piller »

Bought an Epson EcoTank all in one printer a couple of years ago, and it has been nothing but trouble. It has only gone through the first tank of ink, and is now broken. Something inside. The Epson support only wants me to buy another printer.

Which brand of printer with built in scanner do you all recommend? I am buying a new one, and will trash the Epson.

My I-Mac and the Cannon 3-1 printer are 9 years old. The Cannon Printer has been a joke.
I rarely use the printer, and when the ink dries, the entire machine including the scanner won't operate. One would think that with 7 individual ink pods the darn thing would at least print something.
I'm giving serious consideration to a Laser Printer. The toner in a Laser Printer won't dry up.

HP Deskjet 2050. Ink cartridges cost too much, (my opinion) but it's been an anvil for at least 5 years.

I looked at the tank models but we don't do enough printing to make it worthwhile so I got the same version that uses the cartridges. I haven't had any problems but haven't used it much either.

We print quite a lot of "stuff" here. After cussing the ink-cartridge eating HP inkjet for years I went with a Lexmark color lazer. It has been wonderful. But -- there's no scanner with it.

With the cost of print cartridges being so high, I am tempted to just throw the printer away and buy a new one when the ink runs out. The price of the cartridges is almost as much as the cost of a replacement printer. I find myself printing to a pdf file for documents I want to keep. There are very few things of which I really need to create hard copies, and almost nothing that I would want to print in color. I use the scanning feature of my old device much more than I use it as a printer.
