Yepper, the scratch noise is hard to get rid of in such a crude instrument, going to make another tomorrow with a five or six inch wheel and maybe different strings .
This one has steel strings may go to plastic and wood pins for the key thingy`s , who knows play it by ear right. :)

Those fancy ones are nice but very spendy and ya have to know who to play it which i don`t.
I think i`m going to build another today and try plastic string instead of steel wire which all i have is weed trimmer line.
Also may put those side strings on it too. :)

Got the second one pretty much done other than some tuning.
The strings are shop wire, ordered some guitar string that should work better.

Look up Patty Gurdy on YouTube, she plays a mean Hurdy Gurdy and not at all bad looking.
She even had a custom built 18 string Hurdy Gurdy made just for her.

That's the spirit Lenn! Good for you!

Too many kids don't even know which end of a hammer to hold these days...

My late father used to call his hand drills a "hurdy gurdy". Anyone else's dad do that?

The resonator is made from a phonograph reproducer, a wire and wire connects too the bridge.
Gotta find someone that can play a tune on it. :)

I think if it were strung and tuned like a violin it would sound fine. Wish my dad were still alive, he'd be able to get some music out of it being he was a fiddle player. I see the fiddle players in Branson playing fiddles that are similar only with pickups for the amplifier where your horn is.

Amplified harp sounds good, maybe a video to follow?

I used to blow on a harmonica over my boat's PA speaker. Could be heard 2 miles away.

NOTICE that I did NOT say I played my harp on the PA . . . . .
