Marlin xlr worth?

Post by Thunder50 »

Thinking of parting with my Marlin (not Remlin) XLR 45-70. Has about 1 box of ammo (WW 300gr HP went into 1.5" with open sights @100yds) thru it and I do have the box. Just wondering what it is worth nowadays?

With the box and papers I would start it on Marlin Owners classifieds at $ 1000 . If on Gun Broker who knows where it could end up. One thing for sure it will NEVER be made again. DON'T GIVE IT AWAY,....... Good Luck.

Yep - if you wait patiently, someone with a real desire for one will pay a bunch for it; if you just want to get rid of it as soon as someone comes along willing to buy a recent-production Marlin, you will not get as much.

I have XLR's in 30-30, 35 Rem, and 444 Marlin, and 'someday' plan to wring them out with some good handloads.

...someday... :?

I had XLR’s in every cartridge they were chambered , shot and hunted them all . And after I finished with them I sold everyone for a profit (some more profit than others) !

I’m not worried about the ammo . I make most of my own so it’s not an issue . And before you say it my component supply is more then I’ll use for a few years 8)
