That's great Lenn, we put up a box in the barn hoping a Barn Owl would take up residence, three years on and no takers. . . :(

It`s right in the yard by the bird feeders too, they don`t seem very afraid of humans.

Thanks Old No 7.
Been watching and there`s a owl coming every so often and sticking it`s head in the door so betting that`s a male feeding her on the nest.

I always considered it a blessing to see an owl during the day..

Pitchy you need to start an Owl cam! Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

I`m shooting from in the house through a window, the picture was clear in the view so i`m not sure why it`s fuzzy.

The SAME thing happened after my wife's Mom passed -- both of them loved owls -- a cute little Saw-whet Owl showed up on the power pole outside our house that evening after the funeral... My wife was in tears, and I was thinking "this is a little weird", but I also knew it was something very special. And we never saw an owl there before or again...

Just went out with the night vision, nothing moving around the owl house but got a shot of a deer at 50 yards total dark.

Wow, me too, that "Owl defense" is cRaZy CrAzY for sure...

Then again, I WAS once dive-bombed by a hawk while predator hunting with a hand-held call. It got my hat and finally dropped it maybe 300 yards away...

A type of raptor called a Mississippi Kite nests and hatches its young in one of the parks in Liberal, KS. They used to dive bomb us when the Parks Department employees were mowing the grass. After being bumped once, one of the female employees started using her tennis racket as protection. It took a few times of her knocking some of them down before they started leaving us alone.

Where we live here is the Cherokee Nation and the Cherokee consider the owl to be evil or the bringer of death. If an owl shows up, someone is going to die. I moved my first nation bride into a house and that night an owl screamed right outside our bedroom window. The next day I moved her back to town. We have Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls and those cute little Screech Owls that scream like a red headed woman being run through with a red hot poker. Just happen to be near when one of those lets loose and I'll bet you can't keep your feet still.

I once read of an english anglican missionary family arriving at a cree/metis village in canada and given the royal treatment of the first tasty bits from the boiling cauldron.....the hosts served up what looked to be a whole human baby......the english lady swooned and fainted of course......I

It was really nothing more than a local delicacy known as great horned owl....plucked and debeaked and boiled, the eye set and spacing made it look eerily like a human infant......
