Good post Steve, I'm pretty isolated where I live and being retired I don't see that many people now. I still have to venture out to buy groceries occasionally. Not sure whether I will still see Shirley at weekends as she lives in a large town 60 miles away. Maybe wiser to stay away till things calm down and just spend my time shooting squirrels.

I'm on the move since I provide services to hospitals. My wife is a literacy specialist in Lewiston but the school system like everyone else is locked down till at least first week of April. Just found out yesterday that most if not all the hospitals in Maine are temporarily suspending elective surgeries to free up beds and keep OR staff on standby just in case. For me, things will get shifted around. Now I can get caught up on preventive maintenance on some of the equipment especially for the ones that go full tilt during the work week.

Im retired so its not an issue BUT my wife is a doctor so.....stuff. We are taking precautions. She takes a change of clothes and remains masked. She showers in the basement before coming upstairs. We have pulled the kids from daycare and shut down all visitors. We keep a pretty substantial supply of food on hand so we arent too worried.

We live kind of "holed up" here on 9 acres just outside of small town Texas where life stays much the same . Plenty of company with ponies, chickens, cats, dogs, and native wildlife. All essential businesses are normal, including the P.O. , feed /hardware store, Dairy Queen, grocery store, MD office, etc. Not far to the west nearer the DFW Metroplex, the politicians have made life a bit crazy, but I stay away as much as possible.

Interesting how well folks can get by without professional sports, concerts, and such. Reminds me of where I was raised a long time ago. Peaceful.

We just got the ok from our corporate office in TX that we can work from home as much as possible if we want. Our general manager is encouraging that. I'll still be on the road a lot but won't have to spend any time in the office if I don't want to. My wife however works in a bank and is in contact with people all day. She has seen a big decline in traffic through the lobby and they are encouraging people to do their banking online. The older folks don't want any part of it, but they are using the drive through more.

We've been retired for 10 years now, and we're not going anywhere now that isn't 100% necessary. We have enough food for now, and unless we got some hankering for something different, there's no need to hit the grocery store for awhile. We did stop at a big store last week and the hoarders had picked the shelves clean. I asked a manager if they were restocking, and he said they do, but it gets cleaned out the next morning. They're crying for workers to help stock shelves, and hiring on the spot if anyone wants a job.
He recommended we shop when the doors opened, and we'd find full shelves, and less people to come in contact with.

Having grown up on the Gulf Coast of Texas I'm well versed in Hurricane prep. So, even though we now live the the Texas hill country the old habits still exist. We are now 15 mile from the closest town (that doesn't even have a Walmart!!!!) out in the country at the end of a dead-end private road. The pantry stays stocked, to refrigs and 1.5 freezers. the generator is now plumbed for propane. It easily runs the house and the water well. For long term we have Thrive Life freeze dried vegs and meats. Some of that stuff is good for 25 years.
I actually use some of them on a daily basis.
If the freezers run low there is fresh meat on the hoof in my front yard. :D

I'm a hermit anyway, but there isn't much choice in Washington....Every place to eat, drink or gather is locked down. I won't be surprised when they mandate staying home except for certain needs like food shopping or medical treatment.
