Beautiful! I'm too old to ride any more but I can appreciate that saddle. What does it weigh? My using saddle is wasting away, Bird, Mesa but very heavy. I also have an R. T. Frazier A fork from 1890 that would be very comfy.

That's a nice saddle alright
Only last night I was talking to Shirley about taking up riding again at 71 but Western Riding over here is hard to find and expensive when you do.
Lots of old English schooled old nags with cheap Western saddles but few American trained horses with decent tack.
I bet your horse will appreciate that new saddle too...

Looks good. The cantle appears just about the right height. I am not much of a rider, but I do understand that too low and you can slip around and too high can rub a hole in you. My Parents have a friend in Meade, KS named Mike Nail who makes saddles. He has made quite a few, and like most of the good ones, could write a large book on the subject. What I know about saddles and riding would barely make a paragraph.

Farrier, beautiful saddle. I'm not much of a rider, either, but have always had a great love for saddles and tack and the smell and feel of them.
That's beautiful flooring you have, too, by the way.

This is the horse. Its been raining constantly here so no luck on saddle pics. Vandal is a Thoroughbred we rescued. He sold as a yearling for just under $400,000.....yep you read that correct. He refused to race so ended up at a rescue where we picked him up for $600. His daddy is a super famous horse named GhostZapper

Very cool.

The Ex and I had adopted a Standardbred and Thoroughbred that weren't fast enough for the track. Suzy our Standardbred was a really great animal. She was like a big dog, smart and playful. the TB, not so much. He was a first class jerk. When we got divorced, she took the horses and I took the dogs. I'm pretty sure I got the better part of the deal.

He is amazing. He just turned 6 years old and is calm and level headed enough that our toddlers ride him. He doesnt have a mean bone in his body. Totally loves our girls.

Hard to complain about that, even if his canter is rough.

Ms Poco Flit Bar and me, in about 1999, before the "Rose" was the "Rose!" 99.9% Foundation Quarter horse... about 14 when this was taken, deathly afraid of puddles, but moving water was not a problem! Smoothest ride I ever had from walk to gallop... but it took her a long time to get up to a gallop!!! :(

My wife has a co-worker who rides hunter jumper ( I think that's what they call it) and she is also bringing her son along with her. He rides a pony in the kids class. She posts video of it on FB when they go. I don't know a thing about it but I love watching it.
