Epidemics and Pandemics will come and go, but the biggest impact of this one will be if it causes enough economic slump to make the 'vote for incumbents if my wallet is thick' crowd to abandon Trump and vote for the Socialists...

Yep. This one has crushed the Chinese supply of just about everything. Production is not going to jump back to normal anytime soon. There’s a good chance will see global shortages and production deficits that will have lasting negative affects on economies all over the world including ours.

Some medicines and chemicals necessary for the production of medicines are made in China. Possible shortages in the near future.

Sad, but that is what we get for not making those in America.

Same goes for some rare metals - we have them, but do not mine and refine them.
Reminds me of a beryllium mine on a mountain peak in Colorado where my dad had an interest. Big deposit, but difficult to mine.

All true BUT if Trump lights a fire under these American companies and they ramp up production of these items it will boost our economy more and cement the reelection.

I've never bought into conspiracy theories, but the talk that China developed this virus to kill off a lot of their over population problems isn't beyond belief. I wouldn't be at all surprised they did, as their tactics towards aggressively controlling population are barbaric. This could easily be the next step in their process.

So now that all the boxes have been ticked on the WHO’s list of requirements before they can use the word pandemic, the WHO has put out a statement saying they are no longer going to use the word pandemic

President Trump has engaged a trade war with China and domestic tariffs have resulted in their exports to the US being notably diminished.

Several thousand people out of a population of billions in China have contracted a respiratory ailment which has a 98% survival rate.

The media has deliberately crafted a 'pandemic' scare to demonstrate their mastery and control of the American lemming population.

The American Stock Markets are plunging in response to scary stories about people sneezing and being held quarantined on cruise liners,

China has a greater population than any other country on earth. You'll never convince me that they can't bus in fresh labor to reinforce a supposed loss in production capacity.

Create a weak disease. Talk it up to cause a scare. Cause a slump in the world markets and economy. Specifically, America takes an economic wound.

IMO, it's a Chinese shot across the bow.

The trade war goes on.

India, Japan, and Ireland are all producers of medicines. If China slacks off, they will gladly step in and pick up the lost sales. After that big earthquake in Japan a few years ago, India stepped up production. Market share is quite the incentive. The Communists claim to despise a free market economy, but it does have its merits.

If the Chinese were motivated to reduce their population, they could cut loose a number of much more virulent nasties to efectuate that result. With such an immense population, corona virus deaths would only be a drop in a very large bucket.
