got a call!

Post by rossim92 »

Got a call from an old coworker. His father passed away about 15 years ago. He was selling all of his stuff that he wasn't keeping . His father had a 1894 winny in the dirty 30 caliber. He wanted to know if I wanted it. Dang! why, do theses things happen when i'm low on funds? He never shot it. He was letting it go for 225 smackers. serials numbers put it at about at 1975. It was a bit dirty from sitting and had a little bit of surface rust, nothing major. I called my son-in law and to see if he was interested. we went to go see it, (he can be a nit picky sometimes.) If he decided he didn't want it i was borrowing the money from him and get it for myself. He has always wanted a levergun and he grabbed it. Off we go to shoot it afterwards. After spraying with a bit of clp, We put 20 rds through it and no ftf and no fte. :D Just glad it went to somebody who would appreciate it., and I can shoot it sometimes.

Best of both worlds getting him to buy it but you get to use it.

Excellent
Careful with the receiver. It’s blueing is attached to a very thin plating over sintered metal. Keep it oiled lightly and enjoy the freckles. Work it too much and you’ll see exactly how far that rust has spread between the receiver and the plating. Can get real ugly fast.
Kind regards,
Tycer
