Jordan Peterson is a brilliant guy, and who has introduced SO MANY young would-be 'progressives' to the ideas of capitalism, free-market, and Constitutional government.
It sounds like he is improving.
The prescribed drugs involved are 'controversial' yet shouldn't be - they are about like alcohol, in that most of the time they are tolerated, and do pretty much what is expected, but also like alcohol - sometimes people go bonkers if they use it.
Anyway, if you haven't seen him speak, find some of his talks on YouTube - they are really good.

Benzodiazepines, Valium Rohypnol Xanax Ativan Versed and others, all can be useful. Bigger issue is that they all can create a physical dependence whether there is a psychological dependence or not. Often there are SEVERE withdrawal symptoms when trying to come off of them. Seizures can occur. They are mostly useful medicines for the average person. Mostly.
The G.A.B.A., or gaba-Amino Butyric Acid system is involved. If you want to be totally confused and/or scared to death, look that up and read about it. Yes, medications can really mess with your genetics without you even knowing it.
