UBERTI SAA hand spring fix

Post by rbertalotto »

It's not a lever gun, but I bet most of you have one or two so I figured Id share this here....

On Saturday, on the last stage of a Cowboy Action Shoot, on the last round fired from my Uberti SAA revolver, the handspring broke!

I fixed it with a modification I've done to all my Pietta Cap and Ball revolvers.

Here is a write up with lots of pictures on what I did to fix it.....Now it is just like a RUGER!

That sounds like a great mod, thanks for posting 8)
I once saw a genuine Colt Navy that came from India with springs made from what looked like a tin can, work it did not... :rol

That's what I call a "post of substance" to cure a fairly common problem. Probably the most common issue on a Colt and a very common issue on antique single actions in cartridge and cap and ball form......I just can't drill holes in those guns for obvious reasons but many "beaters" come my way so with those it won't matter. Thank you..---6

Excellent! While I wouldn't do it to a 1st gen Colt, it is surely an upgrade for any repro or non-collectible SAA.
Best of all, it's doable for the average person.
