I thînk of Jack near everyday.....if all human kind could be like Jack Kort, there would be no problems with fighting of any kind. Without a doubt, he represented the best of all human virtues.

Before he passed he gave me his entire antique smokeless powder collection, most all dating before WW1 and some from the 1890's.....I haven't the heart to experiment with it like he instructed me too....maybe one day....---6

As interesting as anything could be. He must have done a lot of research to come up with all that information.

John was a great guy. I got to spend a weekend shooting with him at a match in PA, several years ago. What a wealth of knowledge. He knew what a fan of the .32WCF I am and sent me several vintage cartridges and several notes on reloading for it. He really liked the story behind the '92 Winchester I was shooting that day. Miss talking to the guy.

Thanks for posting this.
Reminds me to get to work on my 44s. I've been sidetracked by the 38-40 for many years.

He is sorely missed. Helped me quite a but when I was new to the 38-40. It is wonderful that he left us some of his knowledge in articles. I gave him 1/4 pound of Sharpshooter that he did some experiments with.

It was probably 15 to 18 years ago I expressed interest in the Win 73 in 44-40 . John asked Me for My address and sent me an envelope with a lot of information in it, totally unexpected. I would have liked to meet Him but for years I worked six days a week and I never had a lot of free time, He lived only about an hour from Me. sadly life fly's by and when these Kind of Great people are gone there are few that could replace them................................................ :( .

Jack was a rare sort, and one I've always enjoyed conversation with via email for years. I doubt anyone could find a single person in the gun world so respected and well liked. He is missed, and will never be replaced.

I had a few PM exchanges with John on this Web site. I instantly knew I was talking to a really nice, knowledgeable guy who wanted more than anything to help, and help he did.
The fact that several have spoken so highly of him here is a testament to the man he was -- and is in the presence of his Creator.

He was always eager to help. He was very patient with me even after I finally started to understand. Here are some of my favorites of much information he allowed me to use on the website.

He also loved the 30-30 of which I still have many questions!
