Anyone with first hand knowledge of SCCY CPX pistols?

Post by wm »

They have been around a good few years, competing with Hi Points and Jimenez and what not. Please share your experience.

PSA has a pretty darn appealing offer right now and it got my attention. ($125)

A lot of positive comments on the PSA website for what it is worth

My sister carries one. She is able to cover a magazine full from 25 yards with her palm. The trigger is mushy and gritty, but it works. I would use it if I owned it. There are much better guns, but at a higher price.

Kind of different take on a gun review. Reviewing the factory as well as the gun.

I like the idea it is American made …… there are some low priced handgun options from Turkey and Slovenia and what not but I'd rather support a American.

They were made in Daytona Beach when they first came out, but I heard they had plans to move to Tn. I'm not sure if that ever happened

I picked up a SCCY CPX-3 in 380 Auto last month. I got mine from Bud's Guns for a bit under $200. I like it. The fit and finish are good, the action seems smooth (I'm not used to a long double action, but smooth trigger, yet, but other than that it is a good gun). I have only fired it twice both with factory Hornady factory Critical Defense, handloads with Hornady 90 gr. XTP, and some generic 95 gr. LRN bullets. Functions fine, not any mis-feeds or bad ejection. Good accuracy for a small gun (as far as I can tell, my marksmanship is waning). Easy take down for cleaning and plunk testing. I would put it in a class higher than Hi-Point, know nothing about a Jimenez and at least as good as Kel-Tec.

This is a "newer" brand like Canik that I have no experience with. Glad these are working for some of you.

I found everything but where to buy spare mags. one mag is not enough.

Looks interesting though.
