I have a 336 Texan. I much prefer a 20" barrel configuration in 30-30.

They made the 336CB before in both 38-55 and 30-30 . The 38-55 lasted longer then the 30-30 . For a time I owned both . If a 336CB 30-30 sold well they’d still be produced .

I really like my 38-55 CB, so I can appreciate somebody wanting one in 30-30. 20 years ago I passed on a CB in 30-30 thinking "naw, I already have two of the 336A's (the old 336A with 24" bbl and 3/4 magazine) ". And I do consider the 336A as "absolute perfection". But that is my just my taste.

I just remembered the first deer I ever plunked with a cast bullet was killed with a Marlin 336CB 38-55 shooting the Lyman 375449 (I think the number is correct). Also the first deer I killed with a gun that didn’t have a scope on top .

Wish I had held on to my CB in .38-55. That is just such a useful and classic caliber.

Yes. And a multitude of other configurations such as short rifle, magazine length options, etc. But......with new bolt guns selling so inexpensively, I doubt any changes in the levergun product line will change. I have 3 336CBs. Two 30-30, one 38-55. They are fine shooters and a novel item due to limited production numbers.

I have a 336 CB in 30-30. It is quite the shooter. On another forum, some years back, I read that Marlin produced around 3500 of the 30-30 CB rifles.

Seems to me like since they make 30-30s in other variations it wouldn't be cost prohibitive to make a 1000 or 2 with octagon barrels.
