Ain't worth it. You only hear stuff you've learned to do without. Much more peaceful without them. Of course, you can shut them off ....

Tinnitus is a curse, I have had it for fifty years.

Nothing feasible you can do.

Hearing aids?, my wife needs one.

Had it for at least 50 years. I use it instead of a noise machine to help me go to sleep. Put in ear plugs, listen to the chirping and whistling.

I read about some implant or something they do now that can help.

I figure I will put it up with it for a few more years .....

Blaine -- I'd respond to this post but I didn't hear a word you said... :)
I'm sorry you have to get hearing aids, that's something I'm not looking
forward too...but from those I know who have them--it helps.

I hear circular saws when I put in my ear plugs and go into a quiet room. At least that is what my tinnitis sounds like. I have had it as long as I can remember. I just ignore it.

I never realized what a nag my Grandmother was until after my Granddad retired. When he'd had enough he used to look over at me, smile and turn his hearing aide down. Thinking there might be advantages...

I was told that I needed them about two years ago. Thirty years of power tools will do that I guess. I can hear lower ranges and voices but the upper tones are difficult. Bubbles is kinda in the middle but she needs them worse than I do. Doesn't hear a word I say, but I'm betting that is more selective hearing than anything else. Perfect example was when watching a tv show. Two women about the same age. One was tall w/ an average voice and one petite girl with a very high voice. Couldn't hear a word of what the little chick was saying but the other girl came through just fine. Guess I have to stay away from squeaky short girls.

Everyone seems to kevtch about the "horrible" VA care, but It's been an absolute blessing for me. I guess it varies around the country.

I thought I was the only one who enjoys the sleep inducing white noise of my tinnitus …. it really doesn't bother me, but I bet if it stopped I would suddenly be wide awake !

Being in the VA care system since March 1968, I noticed that some -- if not many -- of these "horrible care" stories are caused by the person seeking care....

Reminds me that I need to go to Audiology VA Am Lk to have my hearing aids adjusted.

If what you say is true, than my old age began years ago when I shot a rattler under a deer feeder with my 4 inch 44 mag using full house 240 grain ammo.
No ear protection because I was working, not hunting. But that snake was speeding toward the creek bed with his head up in the air and I could not pass up that shot and let that snake escape! He did not make the creek and my hunting pard was quite impressed with the fact the snakes head was split from his nose back to between his eves. Lucky shot- unlucky rattler. My pard took the rattlers as I quit collecting them decades ago when I was a teenager and shot snakes in the head with my Daisy pump BB gun.

For more snake shooting stories, call BR-549.

Something is wrong with the volume on my TV. The screen shows that the volume is all the way up, but it is whispering to me. PillHer is wearing earmuffs. I don't know why.

Tinnitus is a nagging annoyance.
Being half deaf is a good excuse not to listen to the wife.
Buying hearing aids is excruciatingly painful in the back pocket. I don't know about the US but here in Oz I got quoted $3000 for the basic model.
Piller, I agree with you on the TV. Wife and I have separate TVs and I plug headphones into mine so she has nothing to whinge about.
Sorry, I lied, she whinges because I didn't listen to a word she said while my headphones were on.

Blaine: before I again forget, I didn't tell you that VA provides battery re-supply and repairs/adjustments, etc., of VA-provided hearing aids.

Mr. Newman....I opted for the ones that charge through a USB connection. But, you are correct...American Lake VA runs a walk-in repair clinic three or four days a week.
