A Birthday Treat

Post by Pete44ru »

.

My oldest Daughter & her husband took me to dinner today, for my birthday (a few days ago) - so, naturally, I chose a Polish restaurant...…

These are pierogies with various fillings (cabbage, potato, Bar-B-Que, etc), a link of (correction) keilbasa, and a huge golumka.

As a bonus, the restaurant also had some blueberry-filled pierogies - which I glommed for tomorrow's breakfast (with sour cream, natch  )

It made for a very happy birthday, indeed...……. :D

My late brother-in-law's family used to call and sing this to us on our birthdays. He wasn't Polish and would butcher all the words pretty badly.

They stopped singing after he passed too young at just 50. Wish he was here to sing it today...
(Sorry for the thread drift...)

Hey Pete! We may need to hook up someday! I'm full blooded Ukrainian but born and raised in Cleveland OH and love to cook the full ethinic meals during the holidays! You name it perogies, borsht, cabbage rolls, sweet cabbage or sauerkraut (not really sour) and pork and beef sausage. I have the connections!!!

Someday, maybe (I hope) - Due to health complications, after 17 years of hunting the Maine deer season, I've had to miss the past 3...… :(
