Nice to see it on display, Gunsmoke is still running over here, when I was a kid they called the series Gun Law in the UK.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

My Dad was a big Gunsmoke fan, as a kid I watched it with him, and was not aware that a Colt came in any other barrel length. It still looks right to me :D

That Colt looked small in James Arness' hand. Of course, most people know that James Arness was about 6 foot 6 inches tall. Any pistol is going to look small in his hands.

Fun Fact …… Peter Graves (Mission Impossible, Whiplash, Stalag 17, etc) was James Arness's brother.

Arness was a soldier in WW2, wounded severely in his leg (that limp was not acting) in Italy during the fighting at Anzio. He was awarded Bronze star and Purple Heart. Peter Graves served in USAAF reaching the rank of corporal.

I bring all this up just so you are prepared if you ever find yourself calling in to answer trivia contest at a radio station or you end up on Jeopardy or something like that.

I also read his first gun on the series was a Great Western.
From True West Magazine:
Gunsmoke and firearms aficionados may also remember Dillon using a Great Western revolver. That was true, in the early part of the series. After contacting Colt and finding out the company had no plans to resurrect the single action Army, Bill Wilson and partners formed the Great Western Arms Company in 1954 and reproduced an almost-exact clone to be used in Western movies and TV shows, including Gunsmoke. Two years after the Great Western was introduced, Colt brought back the single action Army, and the company, unable to beat the real deal, finally folded in 1962.
