militarily I think the metal storm concept is to replace land mines or air bursts with something more focused.

I personally think these have some merit in NON LETHAL rubber or OC pellets. Consider what a half dozen of these around a prison yard could do in a heart beat. Or for riot control on streets.

I remember seeing this on tv, I believe its design is to take the place of manned outposts. The system is motion activated...?
If memory serves the rounds are loaded 1 in front of the other and electrically fired.
