New Sixgun

#1 Post by 2ndovc » Fri Nov 01, 2019 6:26 pm

I picked up a barely used, slightly customized Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt / .45 ACP last week. I was looking for the .44 Magnum Vaquero to go along with the stainless SBH when I came across the Bisley and bought it instead. I ordered a matching set of maple grips for the Super Blackhawk to go with it.
Now I just need to find a holster maker that will do a Western style holster for a 3 3/4" barrel.

I like it, alot! Can i have the 44 mag since you dont beed redundacy! I'm on the lookout fir a SS 4 5/8 357 Blackhawk. I dont know why the short barreled revolvers are so appealing all of a sudden. Have you got to put it on paper yet? Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage: The Original short action, compact, high velocity cartridge.

Just picked it up from my dealer last night, it was a Gunbroker find. Hoping to run a few rounds through it tomorrow. If not, next for sure. Can't wait to shoot this one, especially the .45 ACP cylinder.

I have a Ruger with .45 Colt and .45 ACP cylinders. Both are as accurate as I can possibly shoot and then some. The .45 ACP is comfortable to shoot. No real kick. I do load the .45 Colt with heavy bullets. 325 grain lead LBT style at 900 fps have a lot more kick due to the need to overcome more inertia. When I do my part they can put all 6 touching at 25 yards. If whatever I am shooting at needs more power to bring it down, it is time to grab a rifle.

My Redhawk 45 Colt/ACP sends the ACP loads all over the place.... :( I'm guessing cuz the long chambers mess things up, versus the swap-cylinder Blackawks, that have the proper chambers for the shorter cartridges...?

That could be the case. My Blackhawk cylinder seems to fit the ACP just right. No wiggle, and it fits the cartridges snugly.

Looks as if Buster's holster would be made to last. Or, maybe on a last. Maybe check with him first.
