Nice to see this get some press.

I'd never seen Gunpowdermagazine.com before....

I have always heard that criminals are afraid of armed citizens who refuse to be a victim. The numbers seem to back that up.

The simple fact that often just showing a firearm to an aggressor will stop a crime could probably explain why deactivated guns are popular over here. It is a dangerous thing to do, if the aggressor is armed he may well shoot and if he don't there's always a chance the police will. My buddy at the gun shop has sold quite a few legal sawn-off shotguns lately, advertised as burglar scarers.....
Still if you live in a country where stupidity rules you often have to resort to stupidity too.

And to think that Britain once produced some of the best fighting men-both Generals and Privates-that the world has ever seen.

According to the article: "A 2015 study conducted by Harvard professors of criminology found that nations with strict laws against gun ownership and fewer guns among the citizenry have substantially higher murder rates than nations where gun ownership is somewhat common. In fact, the nine European countries with the lowest rate of gun ownership have a combined murder rate 3x higher than that of the nine countries with the highest rate of gun ownership."

I haven't had any success in locating this study, can anybody help with a link?

It appears the 2015 "study" was a rehash of a repudiated/flawed 2007 paper presented at Harvard: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/harvard-flaw-review/
