This article hooked me right off the bat because some of my earliest TV memories were ADAM 12.
Don't tell my boss but on slow nights at work I will youtube old Adam 12 episodes and watch them while I do busy work. That show had a big influence on me, honestly ruined later shows that were popular with my friends like Starsky & Hutch or Baretta or Kojack. Malloy & Reed just doing the job wasn't high octane excitement but it made more sense to me.

Re: Interesting article on clam shell holsters from the 1970s
When I was a rookie, I remember talking to a veteran LAPD officer. He said most everyone wore a clamshell but when walking around the station, other cops would reach over and pop other cops holsters open. It made them guard their sidearms more!
Re: Interesting article on clam shell holsters from the 1970s
If it made guarding your sidearm become an ingrained habit, then it wasn't such a bad thing for them to do. I was never a cop, but I was Army Infantry. Keeping your firearm in your control should be something you do without conscious thought.
