158 grains out of a '22' levergun.....

Post by AJMD429 »

.....well it sounds like a 22 at least.... :D

Got the Marlin 1894 CST today.

Even more compact than its 1894 siblings,
1894 SS (44 Mag 10 shot) and
1894 CS (357 Mag 9 shot),

...but with the Mystic suppressor (LibertyCans), it is about the same size as my 24" Rossi 1892 (but much lighter due to the lightweight titanium suppressor).

30 years ago I decided the perfect woods-walking gun would be a levergun in 32-20 or357 Mag (the latter more practical), 16" barrel, and stainless, since I'm apt to walk in rain and drizzle and snow. Suppressor option ideal.

Took awhile. First I got a 44 Mag blued 20", then a 357 Mag blued 18", then a 44 Mag stainless 20", and a few years back captured a 357 Mag stainless when Marlin made a run. Them a Rossi Win92 clone stainless in 16".
Now I finally got the 16" stainless in the Marlin version, and unlike the Rossi, I can put my 'night scout' sights on it. 8)

Cool beans....now I have to do the HARD part...honor my promise to my wife to sell off the un-threaded version.... :(

Nice! I load a .44 Magnum out of a 20" Henry somewhere in between Magnum power and .44 Special. It's about as loud as a .22. :D

I really do need to apply for the stamp to get a suppressor. My hearing is not what it used to be, and the constant sound of circular saws in the background is getting louder.

Really a nice gun. That threaded barrel is a very nice feature on a gun just loaded with positives.
