Well the burner man was here, looked at it and said this is more of a plumbing problem but I'll do it. I'm thinking you darn well better do it for all the time and effort my father gave you and your son when he was teaching both of you how to fly !
Then he says I dont have the parts, be back tomorrow or Wednesday. Good thing is it's not a bad leak.

Ran out of deck paint, got about 1/3 done but it looks like a $1000.00!!

Yea Gunny....I can smell the accuracy of that rifle from here..... either that or the dog farted........looks like a heavyweight barrel.....free floated?

I'm thinking 11 grains of Unique, loose in the case will put that 270 grainer right at match velocity without breaking the sound barrier. You ought to try about 15 of them before wasting time on anything else as if it don't shoot match velocity, it ain't gonna shoot nuttin.

Around 22-24 grains of 5744 ....going out of my head.....will push it to another magical velocity of 1600.

I've found over the years that 1100, 1400, 1600, and 1800 gives the best accuracy assuming everything else is on par. 1100 is by far the best accuracy and will tell a lot about the rifle....100 meters is a must as anything shoots good at 50

After 1800 it's another ballpark......the list of variables increase.

I'm thinking you should have had your junk by now.

You won TWO in a row........what would you like? I see pitchy has more projects going on....let's sneak over there and I'll pick ya out a prize.......assuming she don't mind.......he has a nice cabinet he made...you want that?---6

OK.....talk....or write. I'll tell ya how to make a mini powerhouse out of it.....115 gr. cast designed for the 32-20 with unique or bullseye.....that's about all I ever shot out of my Ruger s.s. Screw those little baby 85 grainers that California shooters use.

One time I took my 32 mag with the 115 gr. cast and shot a grizzly bear. Bullet went clear though it end to end and dropped it like a sack of 🥔 🥔 potatoes. Of course the grizzly was a potato that I painted to look like a grizzly. After I shot it I took the potato and shoved it in my pants before I went to the club. Drove the ladies crazy

Well, here in prissy fruits and nuts Calif. I bought 1000 of those cute little 85 grainers. Sooooo, guess what. Now I loaded those nasty 32-20 1500 fps loads. And you are right. Better have that hearing protection in tact. After the 32 mag comes loading down the 454s for the freedom.

Parker is a terrible alarm clock! All she does is SNOOZE!

Six the newest cast bullet handbook says 27gr 5744 for about 1470 fps with 268grain bullets.

I liked and I have a box of 200,250,270 and 300 gr jacketed. Forgot all about these as I bought them 25 years ago. I'll probably load some 200 s as sighters before starting the cast load development.

May issue of Guns & Ammo has an article by Maj. Boddington about the 348. This is now available from Hornady in 200 FTX bullet. Just fyi and my public service announcement for the day...

This is on an 1887 manufactured 73 standard rifle.
As far as I know, it's a "standard sporting rear leaf".

Ok...got up late...12:30 today but it was a wild night of watching Schindlers list and eating sausage without the vein.

Thanks Jay......Tommy Gun ...you listen to good ole Jay.....he knows......

27 grains of 5744 for just under 15? . 21 gives me that velocity in the 38-55 with the same bullet.....yea...more case capacity with the 375........Seems to me the velocity with that charge would be closer to 18........

Got to get my butt in gear.....got to make a package for Petty Officer Cody.........told him I'd try to get it out by today or tomorrow.......I'm like really getting lazy.....Me and Jays son are buddies....nice kid with a good head on his shoulders. Jay and Kristy done raised him right.---6

Without the vein.......WTH. :D

FW,
Shouldn't be too tough to find really. They used em for a long time. Many people replaced them and you can fund them in old gunshops in their piles of sights.
It will be harder to find the elevator than the sight itself.

Those original leaf sights USED to be plentiful and cheap.....my guess is you'd pay close to a hundred for one today.

Jay......I shipped the rifle to Cody today.....must have used $2,000 worth of duct tape. :D I included everything I said I was going to include (no need to publicize...the Board Police, you know. :D ) plus the velocity records which I will have to decipher for him in a phone call....I use lots of abbreviations that only I can understand.

OK, lets see what breaks down....with you I had to spend the money on an air compressor. :D

Also, right before I sealed the package up I farted in it and hurried up and closed the box...you know, a touch of home going to Alaska. :D

Crazy at the post office.......it's only a 8x10 lobby area .....(the oldest in the USA) ....and when one person comes out, the next one goes in all the time with only one person in the lobby. As usual I WIN ...you know, I ALWAYS WIN......When I drove up there was nobody waiting and when I left there were 5 people with their masks on waiting outside.

Be careful.....the "Board Police" 👨🏿‍✈️are reading every word.....big life they have. :D 6 or Jay Bird 🐁🤣😝😜😩😫😩🤡🌈🙈🕷☠️👹😈🙈🙉🙊🐁⛩🛳🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀😓😷😩

Yes it is, as soon as they start feeling better they try to go back to how they normally act. They just dont understand what is going on. Unless they are sequestered other than walks it's hard to keep them from acting like normal. My dog had what's called a TPLO, doc installed a plate to stabilize the joint as she tore the ACL completely. There is a couple different styles of the ACL surgery, this was more intense than a partial tear and the monofilament wraparound the bone- this method not as reliable in big breeds.

Man! You gots the toys! Can I have that boat? You had a good day I see........new scope too........

Old Savage loading 32 mags? Extremely easy cartridge to load for...like the 38 Spl about anything shoots well. Below is posted my results with the 32 mag. When you see an underline that means I used the shorter 32 short or long cases. Notice the one on the white index card...original blackpowder ammo that was probably 120 years old.

But first a VERY ACTIVE night here at Sixgun Land.....LOTS OF ACTION GOING ON IN THE POND AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN. FOR A MINUTE THERE I THOUGHT I WAS IN CALIFORNIA HANGING OUT WITH FRED.

I noticed the geese were in pairs again and it's only been a week since the eggs were laid, where one goose sits on them and they take turns. That told me predators were dining on the eggs......took a little walk and yep, MISS APPLE found the nest with broken egg shells and one that didn't look too bad so I took it up to the house.

Next to a regular egg

Image

For my fruend in California ("friend" in german) I still remember a little of it.

Image

Took the light down to the pond.....must be 50 frogs swimming and loving life. They like their new digs. Yep...males are different than females.....these animals know what's right, not the way they do it in Hollywood.

Image

The next three pictures are different sets of frogs......LOT of action happening in the back yard...not much up my way.

Image

Image

These two like it in the water.

Oh man! Feel for ya Jay......I've told you before, your weather would push me to jump over a bridge......HATE the winter. It's like summertime here and the funny thing about is that you and I are not that far away..what..300 miles?

The spring peepers are peeping away...the song birds are chirping away...the peeping toms are peeping away......it's really nice lately.........brightens my mental attitude.

Gunny's package did not arrive yet and should have been there yesterday.....tracking shows it still in transit....oh well, they are gonna pay me $100 for junk. :D

Where's Old Savage?

Wonder where these frogs go during the day? I've been around the pond a lot, lifting rocks, etc. and I never see any. Ain't no way they are in the mud.....wife says they are in the cattails next to the pond during the day......there were at least 100 frogs swimming away all over the place......funny little buggers.

I don't want to rain on your parade but those are NOT frogs, those are toads. Frogs are not covered with 'warts' both species breed in, around water. Tadpoles dontcha know need water. Toads are quite the predator, eat lots of all kinds of insects. Not to mention they a cool critters.

The boat isn't mine, belongs to the guy I work for. We got it in the water, lines set up for his slip, then we went out for a couple hours and did some trolling looking for striped bass. Didn't find any, wrong tide- never fish the change of tide or low tide- fish get lockjaw.

I bet that 85 at 1500 fall under the earsplittinloudenboomer ( German) category!

Seems I didn't save that tracking number! I do know my local post office is slower than normal .

OK...here we go.....I WIN THE "MR. STUPIDITY" AWARD. Thank you Gunny! This whole thing with me describing toads as frogs would be like Piller filling a prescription that called for blood pressure meds but instead thought he needed crystal meth.

I've spent my life in the woods and I called them FROGS.....and I didn't know better.......always seeing toads around the house and frogs in the water......I was wondering why they stayed put. I did notice the "warts" but thought "maybe that's how they look in the spring". My wife even said they were toads and I told her to mind the milk cows and I'd handle the outdoors. I never saw so many at one time.

Bernie? Who's that? Joe Biden sounds and looks like a major major embarrassment to the Dems. I really don't think he is a bad guy but he's not even dog catcher material.....drop out Joe....your worn out. Admit your faults and pass the torch.

While I stay busy around the house with plenty to do and entertain myself mom wants to play......I told her Pa cops are stopping people and giving them $200 tickets for being out and about. I'm a terrible liar and would fumble my words if I got pulled over even though it would be in the supermarkets parking lot. I don't know.....

Where's my mentor when I need him???? Fred.....what can I do to entertain mom and keep it clean?....those days are over with...----6 o de bro

My California Farm Girl is really happy that we are not going anywhere. She grew up on a dairy farm outside of Davis. Her Mother took an administrative job in San Francisco for a few years, and my wife went to a Catholic Girls School for High School there. About all she misses from there is being able to walk to the Ghiaradeli chocolate factory on Friday afternoon. The School let out at Noon on Friday, and the Ghiaradeli Chocolate factory was just 2 blocks away. She is happier in a small town. We live about 30 minutes South of Dallas. A Russell Stover factory is about 45 minutes South of us, but she does not like their chocolate. The only good fruitcakes that there are, just happen to be made about 45 minutes south of us.

Last week the Sherriff of Franklin county posted this message on FB. He came out and said he didn't care what the Governor said, his department will not be pulling over motorists. This ain't Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia. People driving in their vehicles aren't hurting anybody. If he sees a crowd of people, he will stop and ask them to disperse, but his department is not the Gestapo.

I'm east of Dallas, exactly 28 miles from the Dallas School Book Repository Building... not that means much. I've spend the last two days mowing the pastures... Seems like it's really easy to grow weeds! I'll be back at it shortly, but the trip to Wal-Mart this morning was worth it... for the first time in 3-4 weeks they had toilet paper on the shelf! Heard on the news that the incidence of new cases is way down.

I got up this morning to find a new package on my driveway... never heard the UPS guy yesterday... musta been a LATE delivery.

I have been to the TSBD. Pretty interesting chunk of History. It happened less than a year before I was born. I recommend it for a visit if you are ever in Dallas and have time.
