Now Six let Piller have the win, after all he has been laid off ! Besides I want to see how GK is gonna get that here through customs?! :D

Ugh more dust than wood today! Started by sanding that IPE deck for the painter, then to the barn where more old rotten boards were cut up.

Got my pitch spacers today from brownells, only place I can find them. Anyhow I'm helping one of the guys in the club fit his new stock. He just doesn't get it that with Perazzi there are 15 or so different stock stocks , just unscrew the thru bolt and try another until ya find the right one. Another guy showed up with a brand new Beretta 678 EELL LUSSO , gorgeous wood. I put it up and it fit like a glove, can I shoot it? Sure go ahead- 5 for 5. But at 15+" LOP its loooong! He needs it cut down .

Well I finally got off my duff and got some 44 cases prepped. Got to get some loaded for the old 73.
May try 8.2gr. I loaded 8.0 before. Shot well but I want to see if I can close up the velocity spread a little.
Or......maybe I will just leave well enough alone. :D

Getting a little nervous now. Hope I can use those old sights well enough to get one in the boiler room of a potential victim come November. At least the ranges will be short.

Due to some unfortunate violations of "community standards" the winner has changed. You know who you are and that you were guilty at the time.

Taking advantage of my being occupied elsewhere.

The previous winner has only the offenders to blame. He should probably get a free pick from each.

Btw, here is a super scooper picking up water from a local lake to drop on the Bobcat fire. Friends have been evacuated.

Here is a key. They can "crack" open their safes and give him a pick each.

Bad couple of days for me. Thursday I was in WI and delivered. Went to get my steer tires balanced, and they needed 30 ounces! No wonder the front end shimmied and shook! New Keds and all is well. Tracks straight and so, so smooth! Anyway, Friday I get down outside Chicago to pick up my load of packaging material... after sitting in the dock for 3-½ hours I check to see what the problem is... "...nope we can't load your trailer, you have wood side walls, and this is food product! You need a 'food grade' trailer." So, I tell 'em this is my only trailer... waiting 3-½ hours to tell me is not acceptable. Good luck finding another truck! 'Side I didn't really want to go to a Sam's warehouse! So at 3 in the afternoon I start looking for another load to the DFW area. No go. So, I came home. Tomorrow I'm picking up a travel trailer to go to a shooting match here in NE Texas. Look at my ammo supply, and I'm short my BP 45 Colt rifle ammo. Also short .36 caliber re-lubed wads for the 1851 Navies! Cabelas has the wads, pick them up tomorrow, and had to cast some 100 rounds of my 45-225-CAV bullet. With no electricity out in the shop, I had to bring the pot up to the garage and cast there. I'll finish loading them tomorrow in the daylight out in the shop!

WooHoo, a plan is coming together. Next to be loaded are a couple boxes of AA hulls with BP! Then to load the 40-90SBN for the Sharps! Can't have the long range side match go off without me! Got plenty caps, 3F powder, and with the new wads I'm set for the pistols! 2 more boxes of 12 gauge, & I'll be set for my shotgun needs! Finish the 45 Colt and I'll be set for the rifle!

What a day! Finished casting up the needed 45 Colt bullets, went by Cabela's and picked up 500 .36 cal lubed wads, and a couple of other pieces of kit... Came home and got the final 100 45 bullets lubed and sized. Then proceeded to load 'em up. Got about 50 done and noticed that the powder charge arm wasn't moving! WTH! The screw holding the pivot on the 550B was loose, and the little plastic piece was moving, but not the bar. disengaged! So began the process to weigh them all. With 28 grains of BP, it was a pretty noticeable weight difference. None of the loads had powder. Pulled all the bullets, then proceeded to weigh all the rounds I loaded yesterday... 200! Found 3 with no powder.

Fixed all the problems, loaded up the ammo. Now just the shotshells remain to complete. New day tomorrow.

7 words of advice. Don't try to load in the dark. Bad things result. See above! :P

Rough couple of days, Griff. Sorry buddy.
I've run into that with a Dillon powder measure before. Luckily, before it was an issue, I noticed a little "catch" in the operation of the bar. Of course, I had light too. :D

Wow! Good Ole Old Savage did it...(what I suggested for money) by using the excuse of Jay's bad boy posts and deleting them so Gunny could win....I heard it only cost Gunny $100 to win 119.

Griff.....ya see, if you would have come up to our plane when I was working I could have saved you money and aggravation.....whenever I loaded a wood sided trailer, I'd side shift the forks to the side and let the bolts from the guard did a long groove in the wood part of the trailer.....I mean, I'd bust it up good then after the trucker unloaded what I loaded and discover the mess I left he would have it replaced with that white steel reinforced fiberglass sides.

Well...headed for the sleep room....
See ya when I get up around 1 or 2 tomorrow.---Jay Bird

So I win one huh? Ok I would like a Mk119 grenade launcher please! :D

Geese Griff I thought I was the only one stuff like that happens to! That little piece of plastic on the Dillon powder measure is always problematic. Good you found it before you were on the line at the match!

Jay, I'm with OS here- you hanging around that Jay Bird is not good! I think you should go have a time out and think about what you've done!

From one of my shop traps.

The other day there were remains of a vole in the trap, it had been eaten on by something. I figured it was bait. Sure enough this morning another vole was caught in the trap, the remains stuck in its mouth! Not only cannibalism but probably its mate or offspring!

Well, it's raining here, since yesterday... hope the humidity doesn't affect the BP rounds I loaded yesterday and another 75 12ga rounds to round me off to 200 for the match... shouldn't need anywhere that many, but, I'd rather have too many than "be one short"!

Jay, I didn't see what you posted... so no worries on my end. I'm cool with it all except gay porn... well let me... no, I'd better not! Change of subject...

I have two cases of beer, two six-pack of those premade margaritas, 16 liters of diet cola (caffeine free, it is a shooting match after all), 4 steaks, a bag of red russets, 2 dozen eggs, 2 packages (large) of "lil' smokies", for 5 days of campin'... I wonder how much of it I'll bring home moochin' off my friends! Oh, and one pre-paid dinner at the awards banquet! Last year I only took 1 case of beer and gave away most of it, and drank someone else's instead!

Let's see, there's 24 stages (I'm entered in 2 categories, (both cap & ball pistols), I have 400 round balls, 600 wonder wads, 2 lbs of 3F, 300 rounds of BP 45 Colt. I'm taking all 4 1851 Colts, plus my 2 Peacemakers (side matches ya know)... at least 2 1911s, the 1897, 2 1873 rifles (short & long bbls), my Uberti Henry, 4 side by side shotguns, 2 w/external hammers, the 2 Stoegers as back-ups!

Next change of subject. Rather peeved at myself, since I'm going away, I locked up all the other guns... Just as I finished cleaning up after breakfast, I saw Mr. Coyote starting across my pasture... I ran to the safe, fiddled with the combination and go out one of my ARs, and scooped up a full mag and jammed it home, racked the slide, and, cautiously exited the house... Gosh darned it, 300 x 100 yards of clear view and he ain't anywhere to be seen! I know the den has to be near, I've seen them intermittently now for over a month! At least momma and 2 pups!

Oh well, back to loadin' the travel trailer!

Not to worry I still eat maple syruple!!! :D

Oh yeah, we removed a couple of those rotted beams today!

You can get a feel for what was left as far as holding wood. Tomorrow we can start installing new 5&1/4 wide microlams to replace the rotted stuff. These people are trying to make this barn into a wedding venue. If ya ask me its still going to be a barn with crappy vinyl siding half falling off that smells of livestock!

Oh for Pete's sake!! As a carpenter I'm always cut, stuck, impaled, junk in my eyes- par for the course. Heck my day isn't complete if I don't bleed. Well today I had a nail in a couple 2x4s I was taking apart, sure enough as I'm beating on them I pinch my finger between a 2x ,a nail and the other 2x. The point went through the left index fingernail. It bled & i wrapped it up. No biggie, I got to thinking about my last tetanus shot... couldn't remember so I call the Dr office. 2008 ,ya better come in. Ok on the way. No not now, 715. Good enough. At 600 they call- come now.
Height/ weight/ BP/PULSE OX- dr comes in does range of motion, pokes & prods, ok tetanus, antibiotics and maybe another shot of some globulian- but you may have to go to the hospital for that one.
Just give me the tetanus already!

If it builds up you will lose the nail...get it relieved......2015....the tailgate of Ole Yeller was open...has a spare tire......I SLAM it shut....with my finger in the way.....ONE FULL YEAR for it to look normal.....nail came off and grew back all rippled...it had to keep growing until it was straight......

Yea Gunny......I carry band aids.....for real, I have scars all over.....made a new hand railing for the back landing today.....sanded it real nice...drilled the holes and screwed in 3" deck screws...perfect job......I ran my hand down it and ziiiiiiiipppppyyyyy....a splinter drove 1/4" in my trigger finger......

CONGRATES PILLER! I didn't know you had a job loss.....but with a super education and the smarts to finish that education all in a very desirable trade you pulled through much easier than I would have....that's why I'm hateful today as I had to eat a lot of %#=+ to keep my job.

Well Jayster.....you and Kristy had a full weekend so that means you can come down and spend the weekend here and help me get rid of a thousand rounds of ammo....I'm itchin' to blast......maybe if I get out of bed before 9 I'm headed to the gun club with the mighty BAR and a few other toys.....

Griff has aaaalllll the fun....-----6

Nope, no blood under the nail, just the point of the 10d went through, it bled some. Woke up and it was throbbing, guess I wrapped it too tightly last night. Dr called back, said she was over reacting about the second shot, immune globulin. I tell ya my tetanus hurts worse than the perforated finger nail!

Last night the phone rings, I was in a not so good mood so I answered it, was some flunky lame brain working for a dumbocrap state senator. He says can we count on you to vote for (as I refer to him) Tom Malignancy- I said HELL NO I'm not voting for that scumbag! Then I hit the call blocking button and hung up.

Yeah I see how ya are , ask the buffalo coat guy to come visit to shoot your ammo and then he would load all those pockets and disappear!

So out the door this morning, Parker is out in the woods, I'm cussing a blue streak cuz I know she is eating deer pellets( the ones they make) anyhow get them all back in the house, feed them and I head to the throne. Not 15 seconds after I sit down I hear her puke. Yup on the throw rug and Winnie is starting to eat it! Sure hope this isn't a precursor to my day!!

You can keep your chicken legs- give me the eggs! :D

Well finger feels pretty good today, only hurts when I touch it  ! No pain at all but kinda tender. Nonetheless we worked on removing a couple more rotted beams today, installed new 5&1/4 x 9 &1/2 inch microlam beams. Tomorrow we start laying flooring- that im not looking forward to!!

BBQ chicken...rotted beams....fartin in Texas..what else is going on? I never did care for chicken...I'll eat it but I don't look for it...mom loves it as do the dogs......our dogs eat boneless chicken breast......at the cost of dog food chicken is only a bit more and they eat healthier......yea......even the cats eat it but they also eat cat food.........another yea...dogs are a life form higher around here.....cats are....well....cats.

Cruised up to the gun club and boy did I get my T's busted bad........I was not expecting anyone to be there as it's a Wednesday but a few were there and let me have it....."hey man, you too good for us on competition day?".....hey man, ++}=....%#}=....¥£\...¥#_=+?......on and on.....

Blew out 100 .308's out of the 788 carbine.....about 60 300 B.O's.....50 38-40's out of a Colt S.A.....and 100 out of the mighty BAR.......man does that gun shoot but I would like a 3 lb pull instead of the 8.5 pounder.

I have lots to get cleaned up including me...I smell....----6

Fred.....you better not do anything bad with those potatoes around.....there's a lot of "eyes" watching you!

What kind of oil are you frying them in?

More action in Kentucky I see..........just saw on Fox that the CIA is involved....why the CIA?

Butter, fried in butter.

On the specific don't likes ... chicken, tomatoes, sardines ... all three have unusual health problems. Any conclusion to be drawn, ???

Too little data but a surprising correlation in my own experience.

Chicken.....bird meat ..healthy if cooked properly

Tomato........a healthy fruit......

Sardines........fish that is heathy except for the salt they are packed in plus they have natural salt.

Correlation? Got me thinking...dunno ...bad for arthritis?..guessing...certain vitamins?....gives you gout? (Sardines does to me) acid reflux? But chicken? I'm all screwed up Fred....

HEY! What are you miscreants up to?
I'm crazy busy this time of year. Getting excited for hunting. Heading up Friday to camo some stands and make final preps.
The old man was up there Monday to check cameras. Had a few on them. Crazy old coot sees a bull moose. It grunts, so he grunts back and ends up calling it right up to him. Lucky he didn't get stomped.....or worse!
Took some pics with his phone too!

Think I may try 8.2gr Unique in the old 73 just to see if it settles down a little. Eight is my usual. While it shoots good, velocity is a little more scattered than I want. I don't know, maybe I will leave well enough alone. :D

Jay.....a moose? I hear they are stupid but can be mean....sounds like the nation's protesters.

Hey.....two tenths of a grain is going to do nothing.....extreme cold temperature changes can nullify a full grain of even an 8 grain load.

Unique is an excellent choice for the 44-40....herco would be good also as would 231. I was shooting 7 grains of 231 in the 38-40 today and I really liked it....pretty close to 8-8.5 of unique. The more I shoot of 231 the more I'm getting away from unique and bullseye at the same time.

My favorite play load in the 44 magnum is 7.5 of 231 and a 200 grain bullet for up to 100 yard shooting....very pleasant but with a little bit of authority.

Haha our cats do that too!
I thought Unique was less temperature sensitive than 231 though?
Maybe the same charge of Unique (8gr), but with a magnum primer?
I don't really need more speed, I just want a little more consistency. I think I was between 1270 and 1220 maybe? Have to look at my notes.
I've always used Unique in 44 and 38. Oh, I've used 4227 in 44 too. But that was in a 92. I thought of trying 13gr or so of 2400 in the old 44 too. In reality, it's getting to late to be branching off. Probably stick with Unique. I love that old powder anyway.
