Beware of "Blue/Green Algae" -- * Highly Toxic to Dogs! *

Post by Old No7 »

I'm not making this up, and at the risk of scaring some dog owners, I'll take that chance if it saves just one dog.

* Beware of Blue/Green or soupy green algae blooms, especially in still water in areas prone to high heat and humidity. *

* * It is highly TOXIC to dogs with no known cure. * *

My son alerted me to this threat and I browsed a couple of articles quickly to confirm it's real. I am sure that a Google search will easily give you more info if you want to dive deeper. Affected dogs can be dead within 15 minutes to 1/2 hour as the liver function totally shuts down due to the bacteria in the algae.

Be careful out there!

Blue/Green Algae is a problem over here too.

I watched my pup dive head first into a local pond after a ball a kid had kicked the other day, about 20 minutes after I had read an article on the stuff.

Talk about a feeling of dread.

He's fine.

I hate havin' to tip-toe through life.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Chances are the Mighty Erstwhile Thor got ahold of something like that, or a poisonous plant at a dogsitter's house while I was away.
