I came in from picking peaches and smell like a farm worker!

Post by crs »

No Wonder:
from 7 to 9 worked on repairing a section of walk with my helper.
from 9 to 11 we fabricated and installed a much needed new downspout on front of house.
from 10-12 oversaw plumbers repairing a sink (paid plumbers - eek! )
from 12:30 to 1 PM dealt with A/C repairman to diagnose problem caused by Saturday lightning strike
Lunch
picked up mail and saw squirrel stealing ripe peach
Brief nap
3 -4 PM helped wife pick 15 gallons of ripe peaches (still one tree loaded with green ones)
The birds and other critters that like peaches will dine well this evening
4 pm A/C folk just called with info on part needed and cost
A/C man due back tomorrow afternoon
Time for a cold one AND SHOWER!

Maybe I will spray the pasture tomorrow to get some rest!

Yeah, Charles, I'm exhausted, too, just reading your post. Congrats on the peaches. I have some plums coming on, but this is just the second year for this tree and I thinned the heck out of the fruit.

We have some promising pears, but our plum tree just bloomed like crazy and then - no fruit!
Two young cherry trees bore their first fruit which was picked and eaten as each one ripened.

The excess rain may have been good for the peaches and pears, but has played XXXX with my farm chores.

We have a great peach crop this year, (Bell O Georgia) and I ate a bowl of them mixed with blackberries for dessert after a plate of stroganoff over rice. Now I've got the "green apple quick steps".
Left home early yesterday for an appointment at the VA and both our pear trees looked as if they were wearing fur coats. Squirrels :x

Spent all day replacing rusted out metal on my '39 Chevy coupe project. Cutting, grinding, shaping, welding. After 7 hours I smell like a body and fender guy.

I did take time to set out to thaw food for tomorrows cook out:
elk ribs, link sausage, ears of RKrodle sweet corn, and a few other bits and pieces. Fresh Peaches for desert! :P

The bug that I brushed off my neck left a calling card: this morning there is a whelp there over an inch long. :x
