Winchester 88 trigger pull

Post by Walker »

Has anyone else measured the trigger weight on their 88? Was playing with a new Lyman digital trigger gauge, tried it on my restocked model 88 and got an average of 5.75 lbs.
That's compared to:
336sc 35rem measured 3.5 lbs
Pre WWI 30wcf 1894 src measured just over 4 lbs
Crossfire trails 1876 carbine over 9 lbs
Remington KS custom 280rem measured 2.75 lbs average from the factory.

.

Winchester m-88's are known for heavy trigger pulls, and a gunsmith that can successfully lighten one are few & far between.

Since the trigger travels with the lever, a trigger shoe will give the feel of a lighter pull....

It's an aftermarket, but I don't know who did it. Looks like the pattern that Rogue River used to do but this rifle doesn't have any of their other refinements.
