1977 Winchester 1894 WellFargo Commemorative.

Post by remshooter »

My 1977 Wells fargo Win 94 i recently bought ,it just like my Daisy spitten image Buffalo Bill BB gun i got in grade school, in early to mid 1970's. except it had Buffalo Bill medillion and his signiture and pics of him on horse chasing buffalo shooting a winchester on the reciever , and fake engraving on receiver was just paint on shiny pot medal ,and it also had the saddle ring ,,for my earlier post on my problem with it ... i found the problem HAHAHA my 56 year old eyes even with glasses suck ,earler i watched the out side of the screw and it didnt seem to move ,when i wiggled the cart. guide , i tried to tighten that guide screw ,it felt tight ,and i did not want to tighten too much since it is a small screw .So i got a magnifying glass ,and looked ,sure enuff screw moved ,so i tightened it real hard anyway ,it snugged it up to where it dont move ,but i already ordered a guide and screws ,oh well guess i well have spares now,... first time i done pics so bear with me if dont turn out right

If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

Thank you ,yes I'am enjoying shooting it. It came with the box with stage coach on it and all the original papers, I think the gunstore owner ,thought i was crazy when i said i was going to shoot it ,I may put a Williams peep sight on it ,easier on my eyes for aiming, Iam back to being a gradeschool kid shooting his BB gun lol

WHAT? You're gonna shoot it? And put a peep sight on it? :o That's exactly what I'd do! 8) Nice rifle!
Have you hugged your rifle today?

Sounds like you're doing the right thing. I've not noticed the price of commemoratives soaring yet and doubt they ever will. Shoot that thing!

I'm not alone, then.
A year ago, I did the same thing. I bought a 1977 Legendary Lawman 16" 30-30 Trapper. It too was NIB with all papers. I bought it online and when I opened the box I saw the serial number was 25.
Yup.......it shoots great. :D

Enjoy your new rifle.

The late Gary Sitton wrote a great article some years ago in Rifle or Handloader on loading for the .30-30 in one of the Winchesters "commemorating nothing in particular." I had one of the Canadians with octagon barrel, and it shot great. 8)

Yes, I'd shoot it. I like it so much I am going to keep my eyes open for one. I have a Marlin 30-30 I've never shot, but I would shoot that winchester for the same reason I still shoot my son's BB gun! Thanks for posting this.
