Sure, this is the first 410 I have not opened up choke wise but usually prefer them open over full.

Never found 3" an advantage. 1)2 Oz is plenty in a 2&1/2". IMO.
Besides, I can get 3/4oz in a 2&1/2" case if I wish to.

Just a little extra innoculation with the .410 virus. I bought a small sack of paper shells a while back. Wish I had several hundred instead of just a dozen or two. The purple three-inchers are Dominions; the two-inch yellow shells are Winchester.

I thought it was short for Narfle the Garthok....
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Rats. Here I thought we were getting the inside dope on obscure U.K. hunting slang. Well I, for one, am going to refer to lead shot as narfs from here on out regardless of size.
Wait -- what's this? A line from Markland's "Pteryplegia," published in 1717.

"Our Narfs of sev'ral sorts, half round the Waste,
In Ticking semicircularly plac'd,
Embrac'd and poiz'd us well."

When I was 12 my folks gave me a sweet little Ithica SxS 410 double. The first thing I killed with it was a Canada goose using 3" #4s at about 40 yards. Still love that little gun but have passed it along to a Grandson.

And here I thought I was the only one that liked the smell of a spent paper hull.

I have some paper 12g. Still made by Hull cartridge, UK.

One just has to stick ones nose in the case freshly fired. Probably unhealthy but.....

Federal still makes paper shells here, softest shooting 12 ga ammo. Although they stopped making the International ammo...
There is another maker here too, low pressure for the older doubles, can't remember the brand though.

I have a couple boxes of their spreader loads I bought at the Southern SxS last year . But they’re somewhat expensive I think

That doesn't surprise me, heck even the Federal papers are more expensive. Years back when the Army team would actually travel to shoot they always shot Federal Papers and I'd scoop up every last one, reload once and dump them.
