cast loads in lever 45's

Post by mickbr »

Fellas just wondered what the sound signature is like for reduced loads in 45colt in a generic lever action? Like cowboy level loads I am talking about. Would it about the same as 410 shotgun game loads?

I once forgot to put my ear protection on when shooting my 94AE .45 Colt Trapper in an indoor range. Even between the lane baffles the report was barely noticeable. The sound echoing off the backstop and walls was actually louder.
I rarely shoot without my ears on, but I don't think low power loads in an open area would be terribly bad.

Yep. 'Cowboy' level loads in my 16" Rossi are more pleasant to shoot than a 22 LR out of a 16" rifle. Less of a sharp 'crack' - probably due to being subsonic.
