Get your stuff off PhotoBucket....

Post by AJMD429 »

They sent out an announcement that in a few weeks anyone with more than a minimal amount of stuff on there has to either upgrade and pay for storage, or their photos will be locked up.

I pulled copies of mine down during the last dust up over hosting fees. I should just clear off and be done with them. Thanks for the warning as I've not seen any email from them lately ... or they're in the junk folder.

.

I too dumped PB. back when they dumped on their users - I went (mostly) to Imgur and don't miss PB in the least.

There's certainly enough other fish in the sea...…

Haven't used them for years, and haven't missed them for just as long.

I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't jusk keep them on your own computer. I don't know one thing about the Cloud Thingy, but isn't that an option too?

I do both. Keep them on my computer, but use Imgur picture hosting too. Some websites don't let you load pictures directly off your computer, so you need a hosting service to post them to and then put a link in a forum post.

one of the ladies I work with was all worked up about this last night, worried she was going to lose multiple generations of family photos related her to her genealogy research as well as lots of photographs of her children and grandchildren.

I'm not sure I understand the whole Photobucket thing/issue/dilemma but in general I'm kind of an analog guy in a digital world and generally I think I am happier and less stressed then my friends, family and coworkers who are much more connected. I can't begin to tell you how many are all worked up about cable, tv, hulu, roku, spectrum, Netflix, etc and their entertainment services. I'm still very happily getting along listening to the occasional baseball game on the radio while working on a project or in the yard or just sitting on the porch in the rocker sip a cold beverage. Or just reading a book.

I got a toe dipped in the wider world provided by the internet and that's about as far as I care to go.
