Saw that show the other night Bill, Young Henry must have had a HIGH tolerance for ALOT of Pain !!! . and Yes the doctor was gifted indeed.

The Wikipedia article on Bradmore says honey and wine were used to treat the wound. I recall reading honey can have some antibiotic properties, and also that wine was believed then to be safer than the water from most sources.

Right you are KWK. The Pilgrims remained aboard the Mayflower off Plimoth so they could brew "small beer" to take ashore. No one in their right mind trusted the safety of water in those times.
