Crossbow project getting close

Post by Chuck 100 yd »

Hi guys , this project has been in the works since last December. I bought the bow (prod) and bow irons. I made the rest myself
Other than the wood screws. The red cord on the bow is just to test the fit and not part of the crossbow.
There should be finished pictures coming soon.

Those mounted knights had better watch out.....
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

It’s been a fun project. A challenge when you don’t have any plan to work off of. I will get it shooting and hang it on the wall as a decoration.
What next ??? I am thinking of building a small gas engine from scratch, maybe a hit and miss stationary model. The one I like best
The plans are no longer available ,the guy passed about 10 years back.
Making knives kinda gets old after a while.
I have made lots of things just for fun. A wooden gear clock was one of the tougher ones, muzzle loaders are fun but one can tie up a lot of money in quality parts ( I’ve built several). Some things I have made just for the challenge like a nose pour paper patch .40 cal. Bullet mold. Had to make the reamer to ream the blocks. The finished mold cast bullets that shot 1” five shot
Groups at 100 yd. with Iron sights on my Browning BPCR .40-65.

My intentions are not about bragging but to challenge myself to get out into the shop and just “do it “ !

I have a long range plan to build a crossbow, when I have "time" and can't shoot the flat bow any more. I have an old leaf spring that might make a good prod... another box to check, but it is a very viable hunting device with a very long back story. looking forward to your penetration tests and chrono data. :)
